Obituary of Agnes Ellwood

Agnes Ellwood, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in the Dawson Creek and District Hospital at the age of 77 years.

Agnes Diana (Sloane) Ellwood was born on June 15th, 1940 to William and Katherine Sloane in Dawson Creek, B.C. She grew up with six siblings Carl, Gertrude, Jean, Mary, Archie and Georgia. Carl passed away when she was very young.

She married George Ellwood in 1961. Later on to have a life of 38 years with Boyd Mortenson until his passing. They lived in Rycroft for years. She then moved back to Dawson Creek to live out the rest of her life with family. Agnes loved flowers, animals and nature in general. But most all she loved her family. Many memories were made sitting around drinking coffee, visiting and sharing old music. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

P.S.: Mom I miss you already. Your smiles, your little pranks, your singing and laughter I will always and forever love and miss you. Till we meet again. Enjoy laughing and dancing with all our loved ones in Heaven. Whenever I see the North Star I know your there. Rest in Peace my sweet momma. Love and miss you always your loving daughter. Agnes is survived by Daughter; Cindy Johnston, Sons; Reginald (Stephanie) Ellwood, Archie (Cindy) Ellwood, Sister; Jean Locke, Brother; Archie Sloane, grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many special friends.

Agnes was predeceased by Father; William Sloane, Mother; Katherine Sloane,Brother; Carl Sloane, Sisters; Gertrude Higgs, Mary McBeth, and Georgia Ryan, Husband; Boyd Mortenson, Uncle; George Sloane, and Brother-In-Law; Ben Locke.

A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Pastor Lee Stephenson officiated, interment will be held at a later date.
