Obituary of Marie Wiebe
Marie was the first daughter born to Alberta Ruth Berthania Godkin and William Walter Meise in Prince George, BC on January, 28, 1955. They moved their family to homestead in Arras in 1975.Marie had seven brothers and six sisters.
Some of the many pleasures she enjoyed in life were camping, swimming, music, walking in the woods, berry picking, cooking over an open fire, baking, singing, dancing and gardening. A lot of these things we did as a family growing up and she has continued to do with her children and grandchildren.
Marie was at all birthdays, Christmas', family gatherings, Tuesdays, coffee breaks, dinner, movie night or just whenever. She usually brought homemade baked goods.
Marie had a great sense of humour and had no problem with the kids teasing her about the drugs she was on. If she said something silly, or didn't retell the story the way the kids remembered it, they told her that she must be taking the good pills again. She took it in stride when they bugged her about damaging her trailer by backing it over, through or against trees, rocks or ditches.
Marie took pride in sewing costumes for her kids at Halloween and school plays; bribing them with treats to get chores done; getting the boys to the hospital for stitches; letting them make choices for themselves, allowing them to become who they are; and driving them wherever they wanted to go.
Marie's start in the kitchen came about from her two older brothers liking cookies, usually making two batches, one to taste and one to bake. This continued throughout her life, cooking for family, friends and professionally.
Marie worked hard all her life, and when she bought her truck she was so proud. She didn't think she would ever have a brand new vehicle. That was a major milestone for her saying "it's mine and I did it on my own". She didn't baby it or treat it with kid gloves. It was a truck so it should go through mud, snow, brush, ditches, creeks and sand. She'd haul anything in it - dirt, recycling, manure, firewood, bikes, kids, dogs and camping gear.
Marie thought it was her duty to look out for the younger brothers and sisters. We didn't make it easy on her.
Marie is predeceased by her parents Alberta and William; brothers Tom, Gene.
She is survived by her children Wanda, Trevor, Travis, Shane, Sadie; brothers Pat, John, Charles, Ron, Billy; Sisters Helen, Anne, Lucille, Shelly, Julie, Dolly; grandchildren Jena, Brittney, Hailey, Cole, Garrett, Aubrea.
