Luella Totusek

Obituary of Luella Ruth Totusek

Luella Ruth Totusek was born on September 15, 1935 in Biggar Saskatchewan. She was the oldest of three sisters and one brother. At the age of six months the family moved to Washington St, settling in Odessa. In 1948 she met my grandfather Max William Totusek in Odessa Washington, where they married 2 years later. In 1951, Karen, the first of five children was born, following, Terry, Gary, Mary Alice and Diane. In 1969 the family moved to Chetwynd B.C. Grandma became a log scalar so she could help at the Totusek family sawmill. Her first paying job was log scaling for Bill Hoover, from there she was approached by Lorne McQueen to work up at CFI in their new scale house. She worked there for a brief period before she was sent to work at Canfor scales. She became employed by the BC forest service in 1972 continuing to work at Canfor scales until around 1984 where she then went to work at the Forest Service field office becoming the Interior check scalar for the Dawson Creek forest district area. She did a variety of jobs at the forest service; one of her favourites was expediting supplies during fire season. When the district office moved to Dawson she was very saddend. She continued to commute there until her retirement in 1995. Her co-workers remember her as a mentor always positive and kind to others, she was highly respected. Many of them became her good friends. Grandma was the most courageous person I have ever met. Her compassion for life and knowledge will forever influence me. What I learned from her I only hope to pass on to my children. She was the most amazing person that you could ever have met; she was a real life angel. You will forever be our inspiration and hold a special place in our hearts. We love you so much and will miss you more than you could ever imagine. Our emptiness can never be fulfilled and our lives will forever be changed. You will be with us always. -------- And grandma, as you would always say……………….
