Pansy Lowery

Obituary of Pansy Lowery

Pansy Corsbie was born to Joseph and Winnifred Corsbie in Traynor, Sask, May 30, 1922, the middle child in a family of seven. At the young age of 6, she moved to Shearerdale. Through depression years, there were a lot of hard work and poor times, yet Grandma Corsbie would always share food with those in need. The family looked after the first mail delivery and post office in Shearerdale. During her "working" years Pansy met and married Harry Lowery. They lived in the 2 room log home Harry built on his farm in East Doe River where the couple raised their family, Elaine Faith, Dennis, James and Evelyn. The couple farmed the old fashioned way, with horse and later, in modern times, small machinery. Pansy lived on the farm until almost 80 years of age and over the years had done her share of chores, farm helping and stooking. Harvest was a busy time for Pansy cooking for the threshing crew at home, helping other ladies and taking cooked food for any bachelors. Her kitchen was always open to anyone who stopped by for coffee or meals. Pansy was known around the area for her pie and she always remembered everyone's favourite. Over the years Pansy nursed many people back to health, either in her home or theirs. This resulted in being offered wages as a Home Support Worker , but she returned to volunteering for friends and neighbours . This continued while at the Haven helping others including her long time friend Mary Burton. Pansy's skill of quilting allowed her to donate quilts to her family, W.I. competitions, and fire victims. She was able to help teach other residents at the Haven to quilt. Pansy became a member of the W.I., Recreation Club, and helped with local Sunday School. Pansy enjoyed 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. More "little ones" meant more fun at any family gathering. Pansy was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Anna, husband Harry, siblings Dorothy, Joe, Vi and Bert. She is survived by sisters Patricia Streeper and Amy Vipond. Children Elaine Faith (Clarence), Dennis (Sylvia), Jim (Jean), Evelyn (Stewart). Grandchildren Janice (Ken), Lewis (Lynanne), Darwin, Josephine (Scott), Gary, Craig, Martina (Tim), Heather, Erin (Stuart), Sean . Great Grandchildren Ashley, Theoren, Davis, Sophia, Scarlett, Mariam, Ariel, Tanner, Cohen, Nola, Tim, Riley, Jayden, Larissa. Pansy passed away on January 22, 2010, in the Peace River Haven, Pouce Coupe, BC at the age of 87 years. A funeral service was held at Reynars Funeral Home on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1 pm; Pauline Haycock officiated, interment followed in the Rolla Cemetery, Rolla, B.C.
