Obituary of Darren Brent Patershut
Darren was born on October 9, 1960 in Kamloops B.C. where he grew up and graduated in 1978. After graduation, Darren worked for Weyerhaeuser Sawmill. He then moved to Tumbler Ridge in 1983 with his older sister, in pursuit of a trade, working for Bullmoose Operating Corporation. In 1986 Darren reached his goal and started his millwright apprenticeship.
Soon after moving to Tumbler Ridge he met Maryanne Ziegeman and on July 1, 1989 they were married. On November 18 of that year they had a beautiful daughter, Lindsey Allison.
In 1990 Darren became a Jouryman Millwright and life was coming together.
On July 17, 1991 Darren and Maryanne give birth to another beautiful child, Kadin Mitchell, their family was now complete and life could not get any better.
In May 1994 Darren got a job with West Coast energy as a Millwright. This is where I was lucky enough to cross paths with Darren.
1996 Darren got a job for Quesnel River pulp and his family moved to Quesnel, where he got his 4th class steam ticket. A year and half later Darren and his family return to Chetwynd and Darren returned to his old job with West Coast Energy.
In June 2007 Darren completed his second trade and became a journeyman pipefitter.
Darren was a very private person and if you were lucky enough to become his friend you would see a very different person with a unique sense of humor. He was honest, compassionate, dependable, and a hard worker. He didn't like to be the center of attention, he never bragged about how good he was or said I fixed this or did that. It was more important to Darren to see his co-workers look good! He just liked to sit behind the scenes, sometime you didn't even know he was there, but he always was.
Darren was a devoted husband and father. He loved Maryanne and the kids with all his heart. He loved to pack up the family and the camping gear and head out and camp with Maryanne's family. He enjoyed the outdoors, quadding, sledding, fishing and hunting. He was also a member of the half moon club and anyone familiar with hunting or shooting would know what we are talking about. Darren loved to go down to Kamloops to visit with his mother, sisters and brother to soak up the warm summer.
Darren was able to put his head down and finally get some sleep, knowing that his life was fulfilled. He did a great job raising his family and they have the tools to get through this, as tough as it will be. He knows in his heart that they would be just fine.
He will be thoroughly missed by his family and friends, but will be forever in our hearts and memories.
Eulogy presented by Darren's friend, Pat Borton
