Obituary of Carole Darlene Husk

Carole and her twin sister, Connie (Henrickson) were born in Pentiction, B.C. on December 2, 1046 to their proud parents, Russell and Edna Lever. Carole had six sisters; Shirley, Loretta, Audrey, Sharon, Sheila and Connie and five brothers; Harold, Goldwyn, Ray, Darwin and Leonard. The family moved to Fairview when Carole and Connie were almost three and then on to Dawson Creek in 1961. Carole was introduced to Lorne Husk in 1968 by her brother Leonard (Lennie) and they married in March 1969. They had their first daughter Tracey in 1969, followed by Shannon in 1973. Throughout the years Carole worked at Lawrence's Meats, Overwaitea Meat Department, McLeods Clothing and Hardware, Safeway Meats, The Dawson Creek & District Hospital and then she cleaned homes for friends for over 29 years. Lorne tells a funny story of Carole's small stint as a waitress before they met. She waitressed at the Dawson Hotel for only a half hour after a customer requested to have the waitress (her) between two pieces of toast! She had a good sense of humour, but not for that kind of talk. Carole would sometimes take meals and baked goods to people she cleaned for over the years and if they were going to be alone for the holidays she would invite them to join our family. She never liked to see anyone alone. Carole never wanted to learn to drive, never had a cell phone or used a computer. All the new technology wasn't important to her. She totally enjoyed the simple things in life. She liked going on camping and fishing trips, loved her two dogs, Princess and Gypsy and spending time with friends and family. She adored Lorne, her two daughters, Tracey and Shannon and her four grandkids, Braden, Brianna, Cassandra and Carla. She spoke fondly of her two son-in-laws, Milton and Flemming, and gave the girls her stamp of approval. Carole loved to go to garage sales and found many good deals for her grandkids. Carole usually had her holiday or special occasion shopping done way in advance because she was always thinking and doing for others. Many people commented on the outfits the grandchildren would wear and Shannon would say, "My mom dresses the girls". Carole loved to take her grandkids downtown as often as she could to let them pick out toys and junk food that she'd later share while watching a movie. Carole was an awesome cook known for her sweet and sour spareribs and ground pork pies. Whenever she'd cook she would prepare enough to feed an army. Again, always thinking ahead, having enough to send home with people so that they wouldn't have to cook. She took great pride in herself ; never leaving the house without her hair and makeup done. She also took great pride in her home and her work, her home was her sanctuary and she filled it with many cherished poems and plaques, ceramic angels and crystal. She and Lorne were very proud of the beautiful home they built together. Carole was predeceased by her mother and father, Russell and Edna Lever, sisters Loretta and Audrey and brothers Harold, Goldwyn and Ray. Carole is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Lorne Husk, her children Tracey (Milton) Scott, Shannon Husk (Flemming Sorvin), four grandchildren: Braden, Brianna, Cassandra and Carla. Sisters; Shirley Jabs of Dawson Creek, Sheila Gunsolley of Calgary, Sharon Baduk of Dawson Creek, Connie and brother-in-law Alfred Henrickson of Dawson Creek, Brothers; Darwin Lever of Dawson Creek and Leonard (Debbie) Lever of Stony Plain, Alberta. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Reynars Funeral Chapel. Rev. Marilyn Carroll officiated. Interment followed in the Brookside Cemetery.
