Jessie Klein

Obituary of Jessie Klein

We remember Jessie as a well loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We will remember her fondly as a feisty, witty and warm hearted woman. Jessie was born on February 4, 1932 in Wanham, Alberta to Robert and Bertha Bryce. She was the 3rd of 5 children that included Katherine, Roy, Jack and Robin. Jessie had a good childhood growing up on the farm in Wanham. One of her favorite stories to tell was about having to pick wild strawberries. Brother Roy, wanting to be the first one to fill his bucket, padded the bottom of his pail with grass first, thinking he was funny, but the other kids didn't think so. At age 20 Jessie met and married Ernie Klein who became her beloved husband of 55 years. They started their life together in Sexsmith and then moved to Fort Nelson. When the family first moved to the farm there were years of chasing cows and hauling bales. Even though it was a lot of hard work Jessie enjoyed doing this with Ernie and the kids. Although very scared of flying, Jessie did manage to make a couple of trips with Ernie- once to Hawaii and not that long ago a second trip on a cruise to Alaska when they traveled with her sister Kay and her husband Chuck. During her 77 years on this earth Jessie enjoyed and excelled at many things including raising a family, gardening, bowling, knitting and crocheting. Every year Jessie had both a vegetable garden to feed her family and beautiful flower beds. In her last few years when she was no longer able to do it herself, she supervised Ernie and the girls as they 'did it right'. As a strong and resilient woman Jessie continued to value her independence as she adapted to her decreasing mobility in later years, she faced these challenges as she had faced her life with attitude and humor. One of Jessie's favorite things in life was her grand and great grand children- she enjoyed their company and she enjoyed hearing stories of their escapades- though she did worry about them getting hurt. The activities at the farm often revolved around what ever or where ever grandma or great grandma was, they perched on the arm of her chair or bed and they chatted and chatted. Jessie was predeceased by her Parents; Robert and Bertha, Sons; Kenny and Larry and Brothers; Jack and Robin. She is survived by Loving Husband, Ernie, Loving Children; Jim (Gisela), Wendy (Ed), Kelly (Lisa), Shelly (Lou), Bev (Al), 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
