Adelfa was born on December 25, 1947 in Iloilo, Philippines to Bonifacio and Arsenia Catague. She had two brothers and two sisters. After she graduated high school Adelfa went to college and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Commerce. Adelfa met Pedro Duque in 1965 and they were married in 1969. Their family was blessed with their son, Albert in 1987. Adelfa and Pedro moved to Canada in 1974 and lived in Ontario. They moved to British Columbia in 1978 to Elkford where Pedro had work as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. In 1980 they moved to Kitimat. Adelfa worked in Kitimat as an accountant for the District of Kitimat. Adelfa and Pedro moved to Tumbler Ridge in July 1984 and became part of our parish. Adelfa opened up her cleaning business in 1986 and she worked tireless hours at Bullmoose Mine, the Post Office, the High School, the Elementary School and the Community Centre. Over the years Adelfa helped many family members come to Canada. Adelfa was very active in the life of our church, Holy Cross. She was a member of the CWL, the Parish Council, she was a Eucharistic Minister and she looked after the finances of our Church since the early 1990's. She was very careful with the money and made sure everything went along smoothly. She never complained about anything. She was a very loving and giving person. You could ask anything of Adelfa and no matter how difficult or easy the task, she always said Thank You. She loved her friends, her pets, her flowers, and especially her family. The Lord called our Adelfa home on Sunday, June 7, 2009 after her battles with Cancer. A prayer service was held on Sunday, June 14, at 7:00 pm at the Holy Cross Catholic in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 15, at 11:00 am, Fr. David John officiated, interment followed in the Brookside Cemetery, Dawson Creek, B.C. Adelfa will be missed by her family and the whole Community.
