Rocky Curbello

Obituary of Rocky Curbello

Rocky Diaz Curbello was born on July 30, 1948 in Vancouver, B.C. He was the 4th and last child of Peter and Lavina Curbello. As a child, Rocky grew up in North Vancouver and then later spent time in Burnaby, Surrey, Kelowna and Williams Lake were he met and married the love of his life, Sharon. They then moved to Chetwynd in May 2005. Chetwynd made a huge impression on both of them. They really love the people in this community and are thankful to be a part of it. Rocky held many jobs in his lifetime. I mean many. Most people pick a career and stick with it. Not Rocky. He always wanted to learn and grow which drove him to attempt many things. While in Chetwynd he found a job that fulfilled his needs, provided challenges, and allowed him to serve his community. Rocky had a great passion for music. He wrote many of his own poems and put music to them. He had the voice of an angel. Rocky always looked forward to Saturday night church band practices. He sure had his work cut out for him trying to keep Darren and I focused sometimes. Thanks Rocky. Rocky shared many nights with his family & friends enjoying the campfire in the back yard. Here he spent his time laughing, joking and looking up at the stars. He often said, "Just think about how big God must be. When you look up at the stars and realize they are just a small piece of our solar system, which is just a speck in the universe I see how small we must be." He always looked at people through their hearts, not their outer shell. Often we look at the outside and won't approach people that appear different than we do. He approached everyone as if they were his equal or better than he. He always wanted to be "the least of these." Rocky is predeceased by 3 brothers, Mickey, Freddy, and Valentino, 3 sisters, Doraliza, Agnes, and Geraldine and by his mother Lavina Nowell, and his father Pete Curbello. Rocky is survived by his wife, friend, and soul mate, Sharon, who was his life, his love, and was by his side to the very end. His 3 sons; Jesse Curbello, Justin Curbello, Kyle Curbello, His 3 sisters; Valencia Curbello, Samantha and her husband Pat Pattison, and Sunny and her husband Tris White. What a gift this man was to his family, friends, & community. We love and miss you Rockman. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday April 4, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Pastor Doreen Greenwood officiated. Interment will be held at a later date. Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium.
