Obituary of Bonnie Mae (Nee Bigelow) Nord
This is a story of a beautiful soul named Bonnie Mae Nord, who lived her life for her children and caring deeply for those she loved.
Bonnie was born on Thursday, September 10th, 1953 to Lester and Edna Bigelow in Prince George, B.C. She met and married Gerald Nord and raised their three children, Tammy, Michael and Kelly in Saskatchewan until they parted ways in 1985.
This led Bonnie on a new life's journey with her three children to Dawson Creek, B.C. In Bonnie's words, "God's Country". This is where she soon met Grant Hommy, who became the father to her fourth born child, Matthew. Although Grant and Bonnie went their separate ways, they remained in the same area and the children grew up to be close to one another.
Bonnie remained in Dawson Creek for the remainder of her life. She spent her final year and half with a wonderful gentleman named James and his dog Moses.
Bonnie was gentle, kind; nurturing and easygoing. She was full of good humour and whit. Bonnie faced her hardships with courage and great strength. She found comfort in prayer, family, friends, her new love and support - James, and her popcorn buddy "Moses".
Mom recently wrote, "I love you all. If it wasn't for you, I don't think I could handle this myself. My love is strong. I have faith in God. He is my main source of comfort. I pray to God as much as I can these days."
She took great pride and joy in every aspect of her life, number one being her children and grandchildren. She was one proud grandma! She fought hard to be able to meet her 'soon to be born' grandson. She will be there not in body, but in soul to guide him into his parents loving arms. She loved her surprise visits and nightly phone calls from family and friends, her music, trips to North Rolla, her job, and friends at 'On Our Own', her lipstick and purses, trinkets and 'stinkies', Elvis, popcorn, chocolate milk, coffee, two stepping, hugs and laughter.
Mom did not lose this fight in vain, she showed us what really matters in life; love, faith and hope.
Bonnie is predeceased by her Son Ivan, Parents Lester and Edna, Uncles Ole and Clifford.
She will be fondly remembered and forever loved by her children; Tammy (James), Michael (Alison), Kelly (Scott), Matthew (Candice), Grandchildren, Bailey, Aidyn and her soon to be born grandson. Brothers Marvin and Graham, Sister, Judy, Nephews, Dustin, Jeremy and Cody, Niece, Alanna, Aunt Marget, Uncle Magne, Stepmother, Joyce and her special friend and love, James and his dog Moses.
Eulogy presented by Bonnie's Daughter, Tammy Lockhart.
Bonnie passed away peacefully at her home in Dawson Creek on January 4th, 2008. A Memorial Service was held January 10th, 2008 at 1:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Rev. Phyllis Roch officiated. Interment followed in the North Rolla Cemetery.
