Obituary of Donald Roger Marsh

Don Roger Marsh was born on August 17, 1938 in Midland, Ontario. He passed away on January 16, 2008 at the age of 69, at Surrey Memorial Hospital in Surrey, BC. Uncle Don, his sister Barb and their parents lived in the outskirts of Toronto, Ontario. From a young age he was interested in aircrafts and when he was old enough he joined the Air Cadets. In 1955, around the age of 17 he joined the Royal Canadian Air force and then worked and travelled for five years in Europe. After he returned to Canada he started working as a helicopter engineer and was sent to various places to work. One of the places he was stationed in January 1969, happened to be Watson Lake, where he met his wife Erna. Don and Erna married in Whitehorse, NWT., and for the next 39 years they moved extensively, wherever the work was, they went; from BC to Newfoundland, to South America to Mexico. However, throughout all of this travelling, Uncle Don and Aunty Erna came home to Moberly Lake as often as possible to be with family and friends. Aunty Erna is from Moberly Lake, born and raised here to Fred and Mary Courtoreille. Uncle Don loved his helicopters and when he was not reading up on the latest technology, he was designing toy helicopters with remote controls so he could fly them from land. Uncle Don had many mini helicopters that he designed on his own at his home in Surrey, BC. Uncle Don was ready to retire and looking forward to moving back to Moberly Lake. But Auntie Erna says, "He's living in a better place now." Don is survived by his loving wife Erna Marsh, his sister Barb (Tom) Sharpe from Toronto Ontario, his niece Patty Ashmore and her three boys, his nephew Peter and his two girls, many nieces and nephews. Uncle Don was predeceased by his dad, Ernie Marsh on Nov. 21, 1993 and his mother, Margaret Marsh in December of 1991. May you Rest in Peace Don.
