Warren Mary Brower

Obituary of Warren & Mary Brower

On October 28, 1922, Belle Estelle and Erwin Brower welcomed Warren Howard Brower, the seventh oftheir ten children and the youngest of five boys, into their Harmattan farm home. Warren's education took place at the Zella School where he was an honors student. Regrettably, his high school education was interrupted with the outbreak of World War II. Following the war, Warren completed his high school education followed by theological studies at Canadian Nazarene College in Red Deer, Alberta. Mary Frances Brower was born to Frances and Harm Meerman, in Midwolda, Holland on February 1, 1922. On November 4, 1925, Harm, Frances, Mary and her sister Josie left Rotterdam aboard the "Zeeland" bound for Canada and the "New World". In December, 1928, they traveled by train to Riverside, B.C. where Mary's father began homesteading. After high school, Mary pursued her life long passion of nursing and graduated from the Chicago School of Nursing. Mary worked for 2 years in St. Joseph's Hospital in Dawson Creek before World War II broke out. As much as she loved nursing, she decided to work for the American army. In 1946 she decided to further her education and attend Canadian Nazarene College. It was while at CNC that she met her future husband, Warren. On June 29, 1949, Warren and Mary were married. In 1951 Warren and Mary moved to Pasadena, California where they both attended Pasadena College. On April 4, 1956, their only child, Sharon Marie was born. Shortly after Sharon's birth, Warren was ordained as the Reverend Warren Brower. Warren and Mary served pastorates in Vancouver, Victoria, Dawson Creek, Prince George and Tupper, British Columbia and Albuquerque, New Mexico. They also ministered to satellite congregations in Farmington, Tomslake and Gundy, BC. Warren continued in the ministry until the summer of 2003. In May of 2005, Warren and Mary moved to take up residency in Olds, Alberta. Mary passed away on May 21, 2006 in Olds, Alberta at the age of 84 years. After a year long courtship, Warren married Ruth Munro on July 21, 2007. Warren passed away on October 15, 2008 in Olds, Alberta at the age of 85 years. Remembering Warren and Mary with great love today are daughter, Sharon and her husband Les Campbell, wife Ruth Munro-Brower and her children Laurel, Larry and Robin and their families. A memorial service was held on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 3:00 pm at the St. James Presbyterian Church. Pastor Ruth Czerniak officiated. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Warren to the Tupper Church of the Nazarene Memorial Building Fund. Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium, Dawson Creek, B.C.
