Debora Fischer

Obituary of Debora Dianne Fischer

Debora Dianne Fischer was born on July 6, 1957 in Pouce Coupe, B.C. She was the second child born to Dennis and Tena Fischer. The Fischer family settled in Dawson Creek in 1962 on their Besborough acreage. Debbie's role in the family was very clear; she was always the mother hen. She loved taking care of the kids and was a reliable helper to her mother. Her favourite toy was "Baby Secret" and she treasured her doll carriage. Debbie became a Christian at the age of 9 at Camp Sagitawa. Debbie's faith was an integral part of her life. She studied the Bible, attended the Pouce Coupe Community Church and lived her life consistent with her Christian beliefs. Debbie loved making lists and one of the lists she kept was a book called "Once in a Lifetime". In this book she listed some of her favourite things. Favourite Colors: Blue and Pink, Favourite Singer: Brain Adams, Favourite Authors: Mauve Binchy, CS Lewis, Anne Rule, Mary Higgins Clark, Favourite Sport: Swimming, Favourite Movies: Forest Gump and Planes, Trains Automobiles, Favourite Season: Spring, Favourite Character: Tweety Bird, Favourite Thing to Do: Reading and Writing Debbie worked as a teacher's assistant at Ron Pettigrew Christian School. She found working with the kindergarten children to be rewarding and especially enjoyed working with Becky who she had a very strong bond and special relationship with. She not only worked with Becky at school, she also spent time over the weekend and summers with Becky and the Haywards who extended their home and their warmth. Debbie was a caring, nurturing mother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She could tell endless stories about the special times she had with Zach, Emma and Cameron and these stories always brought the biggest smile to Debbie's face. Over the years, Debbie also shared her love and her home with numerous faster children; they too were blessed to have her in their lives. Debbie was an intelligent thoughtful woman. She faced more challenges in her lifetime than most and she did this with courage and determination. Debbie wrote in her journal that the key to happiness is "Being content with what I have, having serenity to accept what I cannot change and the courage to change what can be changed." Left to cherish her memory are her children; Leonard, Amy and Frankie, grandchildren; Zach, Emma and Cameron, her mother, Tena Fischer, brothers; Glenn and Lloyd Fischer, sisters; Joy Madiuk, and Patty Fischer and her many extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her Father, Dennis Fischer. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Cory Lizotte officiated. Interment was held in the Brookside Cemetery. Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium.
