Obituary of Klaus Herbert Paschke
Klaus was born on April 18th, 1935 in Germany. He passed away on November 8th, 2008 in the Dawson Creek Hospital, at the age of 73 years.
Klaus received his education in Germany, including Goldsmith and Gem cutting. Klaus came to Canada in 1957 at the age of 21 years. He worked at several different jobs, one being laying railway tracks in Saskatchewan, also driving a logging truck in Northern Alberta near Edson, AB. He arrived in Edmonton where he got a job as a Goldsmith for a jewellery store. Soon after, he started up his own business called Paschke Manufacturing Jewelers which was prominent in Edmonton for three decades. Klaus was a well-known and well-respected jeweler and goldsmith until he sold out and moved to Tumbler Ridge where he lived for approximately four years. He moved to Dawson Creek in 2005 where he remained until his death.
Klaus loved the outdoors with golfing being his #1 passion, followed by riding and breaking horses, gardening, berry picking, wine making & hiking. He also enjoyed motorcycles, sports cars and anything fast!
While in Dawson Creek Klaus took up floor curling and he loved to dance at the senior's Hall.
Klaus leaves to mourn his passing six children; Diane, Roy, Brian, Kristine, Stephen & Gregory as well as two grandchildren. He also leaves his special friend and Fiancé Georgina Odynak.
Until his passing, Klaus was the last living Gem cutter in all of North America.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and admired him, and by his many friends on the Golf Course.
With respect to Klaus' wishes no formal funeral service will be held.
Very respectfully Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium.
