Marlene Campbell

Obituary of Marlene Campbell

Marlene was born on August 15th, 1953 in Pincher Creek, Alberta; she was the first child born to Eve and Les Werle. Her sister Sharon and brothers Dwayne (Gump) and Warren (Skins) were a foundational and integral part of her life. As a child Marlene lived in various countries when Les' job took him to Turkey and Australia. The family moved to Rycroft where Marlene attended school. Dale's path to Marlene was different. When he was first introduced to Marlene when she was in Grade 6, and he was in Grade 7, he told Marlene's cousin, that this is the girl I will marry. Dale and Marlene were married on August 11, 1973. Marlene always said that no matter what joys, trials and financial situation - Dale was the man that she was meant to be with. Dara came along and was the dark haired angel and the apple of both their eyes. Then there was Clayton, ten years after Dara. Clayton was her gift child. The family expanded once more when Devyn was born to Dara and Jay. Marlene was so happy to be a grandmother. She called me the day Devyn was born. Marlene as granny was another highlight for her. Marlene was co-owner of D.C. Campbell Recycling Ltd. in Dawson Creek. She also volunteered at the Dawson Creek SPCA, feeding and rescuing feral cats and showing her concern for all animals. Marlene beloved wife, mother, grandmother and daughter is survived by her husband Dale, daughter Dara (Jay), sons Clayton and Wes, granddaughter Devyn, mother and father Eve and Les Werle, sister Sharon, brothers Dwayne and Warren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Marlene passed away unexpectedly on November 30th, 2008 in Dawson Creek, B.C. at the age of 55 years. A celebration of Marlene's life was held on Saturday, December 6th, 2008 at 11:00 am at the George Dawson Inn Tremblay Room. Interment will be at a later date.
