James Evans

Obituary of James Donald Evans

James Donald Evans was born on October 1, 1965 to Harvey and Darlene Evans. He passed away on December 25, 2008 at the age of 43 years. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 1:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Pastor Bill Evans officiated, interment will be held at a later date. James had 2 great loves in his life, family and the outdoors. To James, family (including his many nieces, nephews and cousins) was a great source of pride and happiness. He referred to his nieces and nephews as the children that he never had. I remember a smile on his face that lit up the room when at one time he had a niece on a knew and a nephew on the other, arguing over who got to have him as an uncle. They were both winners. He always seemed happiest when he was with family. There was some kind of inner contentment and a peace that seemed to show through. Be it visiting when someone dropped by, helping a relative, visiting Dad in the hospital, helping Mom by cleaning the house, when cooking for a family get together or especially when he could go fishing or hunting with family. There were trips with Dad, some pretty good helicopter fishing. Hunting and fishing expeditions with brother, Doug, to a lot of places that others just would not try and go to. Ice fishing with Laurel and family. A trip with his cousin Ryan, that involved rain gear made out of plastic bags. And many trips with Rick Schreiber, a true soul mate to my brother. Thank you Rick. James' love of the outdoors showed from a very early age. When James was very young, we lived on a ranch. He loved to run outside and always seemed to shed his pants. The joke was, you had a hard time telling his pink behind from the little pigs he was chasing. Until one day he had an incident with a bee sting. After that, he never went without pants again. It was also here that he decided that he was going to start trapping. The first thing he ever caught in a trap was his finger, which caused mom to fire the trap out the door. He snuck out later and got it back. While at the lake, Mom and Dad bought both James and John small Honda 80 bikes. You had to watch out for them as it seemed they were always zooming out of nowhere, off to nowhere, but always at full throttle. James and John were like a lot of brothers, always bickering, but leaping in if someone else said anything against the other. I am sure that out there somewhere there are a lot of fish breathing a sigh of relief. And that if James has caught up to Dad yet that there will be fish and hot wings involved.
