Faith Fell

Obituary of Faith Lilian Fell

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Faith Fell. Faith was born in Hanna, Alberta and moved with her family to Montney, BC in 1931. Times were hard for homesteading families, but her parents managed, with the help of the community, to send her to Normal School in Vancouver, to become a teacher. Her first teaching position was in North Rolla, where she boarded with the Dahlen family. Her next position was in Sunrise, BC where she met Percy Fell, and they married in 1943. They were thrilled with the birth of their first daughter, Audrey, followed by three more beautiful girls, Vickey, Judy and Carianne. Over the years, they lived in Montney, Fort St. Joh, at the Airport and in Anneofild, where they owned and operated Maple Grocery until 1963, when they moved to Surrey. After 26 years on the coast they moved back to Fort St. John in 1989 and into the Peace Lutheran Complex in 1990. After Percy was laid to rest in Fort St. John, Faith moved to Dawson Creek to be closer to Audrey and Jim. Faith was devoted to her family and, with her husband Percy, they made the family home a welcoming place to one and all. She had an unwavering belief in God, always striving to become a better Christian in her daily life. She loved gardening, writing, and her prolific correspondence kept family and friends close to her. She loved playing cards, and everyone that came to visit her home knew to bring their money jars, since the evening's entertainment was sure to include at least one game. In later years she took up painting and became quite an accomplished artist. She was always active in the community, doing volunteer work, belonging to the Royal Purple, and serving on committees. She had a wide circle of friends and was respected and admired by all who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother and friend, and will be forever loved and dearly missed. Faith is survived by her daughters Audrey (Jim) Parker and Vickey McQuade, and son-in-law, Chris Evans; six grandchildren, Brenda and Randy (Dena) Parker, Chad and Travis Gingras, Garth Evans, and Nancy (Simon) Loranger; and great-grandsons, Devon and Dylan Parker and Graydon Loranger. She is also survived by a large extended family and many dear friends. She is predeceased by her parents Ed and Frances Parker, brothers Hale and Bob, Husband Percy (1992), daughter Carianne (1953) and daughter Judy Evans (2007). Faith passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the age of 92 years. A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the South Peace United Church, Dawson Creek. Rev. Marilyn Carroll officiated. Interment will be held at a later date. Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium, Dawson Creek, B.C.
