Obituary of Jennie Marie Sewell

Jennie Sewell, a pioneer of Doe River, B.C. passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 in Rotary Manor, Dawson Creek at the age of 99 years. Jennie Marie Henrickson was born in Dahlen, North Dakota on July 20, 1917. At the age of eight, she moved to Canada with her parents, John and Anna Henrickson. She had two sisters and four brothers. At a young age she went to work cooking and cleaning for farm families in Doe River and Rolla. In July of 1936, she met Norman Sewell. Norman and Jennie were married on January 15, 1937 and they had four children; Edna, Norma, Carl, and Terry. Norman and Jennie shared 59 wonderful years together, as Norman passed away in January of 1996. Jennie was a lifetime member of the Doe River Women's Institute. She was also a member of the Senior Citizen's Association, Sons of Norway, and the Doe River Square Dancing Club. Jennie was always welcoming others into her home for games and card parties, and nobody left hungry. Her grandchildren all love and cherish the quilts, pillows, and tea towels she handmade for each of them over the years. She was also always humming a tune, loved sing-a-longs and was immensely proud of her musical family. Holidays were always special with lots of laughter, food, cooking of lefse, and gifts. The grandkids going off to college were sent with an ice cream bucket full of their favorite cookies. Jennie loved company. She had the "Guestbook" and it didn't matter how many times you visited, you always had to sign the guestbook. Jennie was predeceased by her husband Norman, her parents John and Anna Henrickson, her mother and father-in-law, ten brothers-in-law, and nine sisters-in-law. Jennis is survived by her daughters Edna Yaeger, and Norma (Dave) McAmmond, her sons Carl Sewell, and Terry (Brenda) Sewell, her grandchildren: Charlene (Cliff) Hollen, Curtis (Patty) Yaeger, Tracy Yaeger, Brady (Sandra) Yaeger, Sheldon (Audra) Yaeger, Shawn (Jenn) McAmmond, Jason (Holly) Sewell, and Corey Sewell, her four great grandchildren Cassi, Jessica, Nathan, and Declan, her great-great grandchild Blaire, as well as several nieces and nephews.
