Obituary of Annie Molnar
Annie was born to Mary and Paul Lovas on March 3, 1922. In 1930, the family settled in the Battle River district of northern Alberta. A farm west of Notikewin, near the town of Manning, was chosen as their homestead. It was on this homestead where she met, and eventually married a young man from Saskatchewan, Louis Molnar. Louis and Annie were wed on January 16, 1940, and quickly began to raise a family of two boys, Andy and Emil. Shortly after, in 1944 they moved to Dawson Creek, which was bustling with wartime activity. Louis began a truck driving career, hauling fuel loads up the Alaska Highway, while Annie worked as a domestic, at times a waitress, and in later years, a clerk in a drugstore. When the WAC Bennett Dam was under construction in the late 60’s, Louis procured a job, and he and Annie moved to Hudson’s Hope, living there until Louis’ passing in 1994. Annie returned to Dawson Creek and lived among friends until her passing on Tuesday June 27, 2017. Her favorite activities included crocheting, listening to music, spending time with family, and travelling. Her most memorable trip was a month spent exploring the many wonders of Australia.
Annie was predeceased by Husband; Louis, Son; Andy and his wife Linda, Infant Grandson; Robert, and Infant Great Granddaughter; Kaitlyn.
Annie is survived by Son; Emil (Eileen), Sister; Martha in Ontario, Brother; Lewis in Alberta, Grandchildren; Jacqueline, Nadine, Richard, Dennis and Julianne, Great Grandchildren; Stephen, Alexandra, Steven, Jeffrey, Robert, Adam, Joey, Andrew Jr., Colin and Lucas, along with numerous Great Great Grandchildren, family members and friends.
A private graveside service was held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 30, 2017. She was laid to rest beside her loving husband Louis.
Annie's family wishes to thank the entire staff at Rotary Manor for their outstanding treatment and care of Annie, which made her feel so at home.
We also want to thank two wonderfully generous and loving women, Julie Schemenauer and Yvonne Becotte, who spent countless hours with Annie during the entire time that she resided at Rotary.
