Obituary of Peter Jensen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather and friend, Peter Jensen. Peter, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, BC, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019 in Dawson Creek, at the age of 58 years.

Peter was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, to parents Annie and Lief Jensen on June 3, 1961. Annie and Lief later moved Peter and his brothers; Henrik and Lars, to Canada. He was proud of where he was from and truly loved his Viking heritage.

After the tragic passing of our great Uncle Henrik, the rest of the family moved back to Denmark, and although family means everything to Papa, he chose to remain here. Peter then married and had three children; Arthur John, Derek Lief, and Randi Lynn. Randi Lynn then had her own three children; Anthony Henrik, Cayden Benjamin and Katie-Anne Isabelle, all who were Papa’s world.

Our papa was an amazing and proud man. He wouldn’t want us to focus on him, or to focus on the sadness of his death, but instead on the happiness in our lives. He would want us to appreciate each other and our future. He was such a wonderful and loving man and will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched. He will be missed, his smile, pranks, and love.

There was nothing more fun than being able to spend time at Papa’s house. He would help us make forts or let us camp in the back yard. After camp was set up he would pretend to go do something and then sneak back and scare us, or play tricks on us, and we would shriek with fright but then laugh until our faces were sore. No matter how sore Papa was, he would devote his entire day to playing with us and then cook us our favorite dinner, which was spaghetti and meatballs.

Papa always had so many stories to tell us. He was very much in love with rodeo at a young age and went on to win championships and buckles. He rode broncs and bulls, and later went on to fighting bulls. All throughout his life, sports was very important to him. His heart was with coaching football and spending time with the players, whom he grew fond of, but that never stopped him from going to our soccer practices and gymnastics events. He always found time for the things he loved.

Papa, we will always miss you. There are so many wonderful memories to hang on to. You were a role model and a friend; we could never ask for such an amazing grandfather. Your guidance and love will carry us through to the end of our days. We love you papa; we hope you’re looking down on us pain-free and happy. You will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Peter’s life was held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 1:00 PM from Reynars Chapel. Pauline Haycock officiated. Interment will be held at a later date.
