Obituary of Rodney Martens
Rodney Dale Martens, a long time resident of Chetwynd, BC, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 21, 2020, in Chetwynd, BC, at the age of 61 years.
Family and friends were invited to a Celebration of Rod’s Life on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Chetwynd Royal Canadian Legion. Mayor Allen Courtoreille was the Master of Ceremonies. A traditional prayer and drum song ceremony was held by brother-in-laws, Richard and Vern Lalonde. The family also shared a slideshow with memories of Rod’s life. A light lunch and sharing of memories followed the celebration. Interment will be held at a later date.
Rod loved golfing, baseball, hockey and his beloved dogs. He worked at West Fraser Mill for over 33 years.
Rod is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 33 years; Cheryl Martens, Son; Cory Martens (Meghan), Daughters; Tina (Josh) Bassett and Marlee Martens (Shawn), twin Grandchildren; Jaya and Seth Bassett, Brother; Brad Martens, Mother-in-law; Virginia as well as numerous extended family and friends, whom he loved dearly.
Rod was predeceased by his parents; John and Betty Martens.
