Obituary of Susan Gamble

Susan Gamble, age 59, passed away giving the fight of her life. She succumbed to her Stage 4 Lung Cancer, May 12, 2020. She was born June 4, 1960 in Sudbury, Ontario and adopted to Robert and Donna Fairman who preceded her in death. She left Ontario at a young age and ventured west until she fell in love with Dawson Creek. It was here, where she had her first born daughter, Tricia in 1979. She then met the love of her life, Kim Gamble at Christmas time.  This could be the reason as to why she loved Christmas so much. She made him pursue her until she finally gave in and let him take her out on a date. The rest has written itself. Trudy was born on March 18, 1982 and Trevor was born on March 13, 1984. Kim and Susan were often heard remarking at how they started with nothing and together they worked hard to build all that they had. It took a lot of love and tolerance.

Susan loved people. It did not matter your age, race or social stature, you could be a biker or a business man; she would treat you the same. She greeted everyone with a smile and open arms. Susan was always willing to help anyone with anything.

Susan had many hobbies, in her early years she liked to paint ceramics and hook rugs. Recently, she turned to bingo and her shared love of food with Tricia and Aaron. Seafood and Hollandaise were the way to her heart. She often requested crab cakes and eggs benny. Susan was meticulous in her organizational skills which is not one of Kim’s fortes. These organizational skills extended to organizing family gatherings and the day to day organization of her husband Kim.  She always looked forward to the weather getting nicer so she could go camping, and plant her garden.  Watching birds was one of her favourite hobbies, especially her hummingbirds.  Playing numbers games that involved quick counting was a specialty of Susan’s, and few could beat her in counting up dice in a game of Yahtzee or counting cards in Crib. All genres of music were appreciated by Susan, and she attended many concerts with her close friends and family. Trevor and Susan would often dance to country music when completing house hold chores, on those special days that Trevor managed to clean more messes than created.   Although Susan has been on adventures to places like Mexico, Jamaica and Vegas, she preferred to stay home close to her friends and family especially her grandchildren.  When Trudy surprised her with a trip to Edmonton to see Cher there was not much persuasion required.  Susan was willing to go on trips with her daughters if it included good food, spa visits or any form of pampering that her kids could offer.

She leaves behind her husband Kim; her three children Tricia (Aaron), Trudy (Brenda), Trevor (April); her grandchildren Anton, Hayden, Elliot, and Emily; her brothers Dave (Anne) Fairman and Ken Fairman; as well as nieces and nephews. Susan had numerous close friends that she considered family; too many to list. She was Mom to many of her kid’s friends and treasured by the Fixx family. Susan constantly looked after everyone. She was passionate about the Legion often enlisting others to help them out.  Susan will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Many a great story will be told in the future with the mention of her name.
