Obituary of Rose May Wilson

Rose May Wilson 1916 - 2014 Rose May Wilson long time resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia passed away on March 23, 2014 at 97 years of age. Rose was the eldest of four children. Rose was born to Eva and James Armstrong on April 12, 1916 at Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. Rose was a very active member of the Dawson Creek community, and volunteered her time to many local organizations, but particularly had a passion for tourism in Dawson Creek. Rose also spent time as a marriage commissioner, on the local school board and city council. She never tired of travelling, and seeing new places while filling her home with many trinkets and souvenirs from the places she visited. The building of Alaska Highway was of great interest to Rose and she spent hours collecting, and organizing stories about this historical event. There was nothing Rose enjoyed more than spending time with, her family, friends and the people she volunteered with. Rose will be greatly missed by all who knew, and loved her. Rose was predeceased by her husband Owen, and her sister Eva Sangret. She is survived by her brothers James (Margaret) Armstrong and Bob (Yvonne) Armstrong, her four Daughters Joan Gasser, Maureen (Alex) Wilfur, Donna McClarty, Sheila (Dennis) Pettit as well as numerous grandchildren and grandchildren. Rose was cremated and by her request no funeral will be held. Inurnment will take place in the Dawson Creek City Cemetery at a later date. Rose’s family would like to express their grateful appreciation to the staff of Rotary Manor for their care and kindness.
