Joyce began her life, born into a family of 10, with a home birth in Carstairs, Alberta on November 28, 1927.

Following stints in then Taylor Flats, Dease Lake and Cassiar with Dale’s job, they settled in Dawson Creek in 1958, remaining in the area until her passing.
Joyce enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, cooking, sewing and playing cards with her family and friends. Living on an acreage for a few years, she loved her horses, chickens and gardening.
