To the families of Madeline Kurjata, with sympathy. We just heard of the passing of your mother. She and George were old time friends and neighbors. During the time they lived in North Bend District we had a dance band. I think we got the large sum of $5.00 each for a nights entertainment. Winter time we traveled by team and sleigh over the snow roads. I think this would have been in the early 40's. Sincerely Joyce & Bob Hougham.

To the Kurjata clan.
My most sincere sympathy and prayerful support to all of you. Your Mother was one special lady in your family, YES, but also to many of us who delighted in her company. I have wonderful memories of "Maw" as she let me call her!!
She is at peace now and reunited with George and many loved ones, I am sure.
Please know that I am with you all in spirit as you bid her "Goodbye " on Tuesday.
May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
Love & Prayers,
Sister Connie (presently in Ontario)

Memories

These are a few stories from her sister, Kay, who is 90.

Madeline took piano lessons at school. The Oster family had an organ at home and her brother Paul gave her a guitar. She had a talent for playing musical instruments, something she had in common with her husband George and she loved to sing. Madeline & George played together at dances.

Madeline was raised on the farm and yet somehow she always managed to evade washing the seperator. (Aunt Madeline turned to me, raised her shoulder to her chin, give me a little smile and with a twinkle in her eye said, 'I was the baby in the family' and winked:)

Janice's stories (Kay's daughter)

The funniest time was when mom and Aunt Madeline were taking about who was born when which lead to comparing birth certificates. They were all born on the farm and yet, if you can believe it, their birth certificates were different ! The description was of lots and parcels and they were different. I laughed so hard listening to them because now they were asking each other what room on the farm they were born in! I got it all on video!

When Aunt Madeline was in the emergency room in the Mississauga hospital, she had to use the bed pan. Mom was going to help. The two of them were laughing so hard the nurses had to go in a few times and tell them to keep it down!

Thank you Aunt Madeline for happy memories. You are loved and will be missed.xxxooo
