Obituary of Evelyn Joyce Russell
Evelyn Joyce Russell, better known as Joyce, was the eleventh and youngest child of Arthur and Emma Cosens, born on June 21, 1936 in Dawson Creek. She grew up on the family farm a few miles north of Dawson Creek. She was the proud mother of six children: Terry, Ted, Jim, Lincoln, Helen, and Margaret. Unfortunately, in 1980, Lincoln predeceased Joyce.
Joyce met Herb 45 years ago and for those many years they supported and cared for each other. Together they enjoyed their summer camping trips, trips to Ontario and to various places visiting relatives. Joyce spent many years babysitting, from grandchildren to the children of her many friends, there were always kids for her to send outside to play.
Joyce loved to visit especially with her nieces. The coffee pot was always on because someone was coming over and guests were treated to pies, cinnamon buns, and homemade donuts. Joyce was a generous person and was always willing to help someone regardless of the situation.
Things Joyce enjoyed were: going to the Fall Fair parade, family gatherings, her vegetable garden and flower beds, collecting pictures of family and friends (which fill the walls of their home). In the latter years, she really loved to go for drives in the country with Herb.
Joyce loved people, and more importantly, people loved Joyce. She was a wonderful lady, the best mom, and we will sorely miss her.
