Obituary of Yolande Fournier

The Proulx, Fournier and Flaskay families sadly announce the passing of Yolande Fournier (nee: Proulx), on Thursday, May 28, 2020, in Dawson Creek, BC, at the age of 87 years.

Marie Albertine Yolande was born on June 18, 1932 in Hammer, ON to Albert Proulx and Eugénie Duchesne. She was known as Sister Saint-Albert during the period where she was a member of the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa. Yolande worked as an administration officer for two nursing schools in Ottawa as well. She was the Dean in the Faculty of Nursing from 1968 to 1974 and professor from 1975 to 1984 at the Ottawa University.

Yolande is survived by her daughter; Julie (Jim) Flaskay, step-daughters; Marie-Hélène (Richard) Gibeault and Marie-Alice Fournier, grandchildren; Daniel, Léo, Bruno, Rosalie and Angeline Flaskay, Christine Gibeault (Patrick St-Jacques), Luc Gibeault, Mélanie Gibeault (Patrick Mukhi), Charlaine Lapointe (Jackie Thompson), Philippe Lapointe (Estelle Bilodeau) and Stéphane Bélanger (Sarah Maneval), great-grandchildren; Mathieu, Dominick and Emma St-Jacques, Cédric and Kevin Mukhi, Pierre-Luc and Gabriel Lapointe, and Caleb, Lorraine and Samuel Bélanger, sister-in-law; Anna De Lucry, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, her religious family and friends.

Yolande was predeceased by her beloved husband Jean-Étienne Fournier, parents; Albert & Eugénie, step-daughter; Marie-Thérèse Fournier, siblings; Gertrude Proulx (Eddy Langdon), Noëlline Proulx (Arthur Delongchamp), Jean-Paul (Mary) Proulx, Bertrand Proulx (Justine Bourdreau), Claude Proulx and Aline Proulx (Donald St-Pierre).

Marie Albertine Yolande est née le 18 juin, 1932, à Hammer, ON, enfant d’Albert Proulx et d’Eugénie Duchesne. Connue aussi sous le nom de Sœur Saint-Albert, à l’époque où elle était membre des Sœurs de la Charité d’Ottawa, Yolande a occupé des postes comme agente d’administration de deux écoles infirmières d’Ottawa. Elle était Doyenne à la faculté de Nursing (1968 – 1974) et professeure (1975 – 1984) à l’Université d’Ottawa.

Yolande laisse dans le deuil sa fille, Julie (Jim) Flaskay, ses belles-filles, Marie-Hélène (Richard) Gibeault et Marie-Alice Fournier, ses petits-enfants, Daniel, Léo, Bruno, Rosalie et Angeline Flaskay; Christine Gibeault (Patrick St-Jacques), Luc Gibeault, Mélanie Gibeault (Patrick Mukhi), Charlaine Lapointe (Jackie Thompson), Philippe Lapointe (Estelle Bilodeau) et Stéphane Bélanger (Sarah Maneval), ses arrière-petits-enfants Mathieu, Dominick et Emma St-Jacques, Cédric et Kevin Mukhi, Pierre-Luc et Gabriel Lapointe, Caleb, Lorraine et Samuel Bélanger, ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, une belle-soeur, Anna De Lucry, sa famille étendue, ainsi que des proches de sa famille religieuse et amis.

Yolande fut prédécédée par son époux bien-aimé, Jean Étienne Fournier, par ses parents, Albert et Eugénie. sa belle-fille, Marie-Thérèse Fournier, ses sœurs et frères, Gertrude Proulx (Eddy Langdon), Noëlline Proulx (Arthur Delongchamp), Jean-Paul Proulx (Mary), Bertrand Proulx (Justine Boudreau), Claude Proulx et Aline Proulx (Donald St-Pierre).
