Sad to find out this way on the net that you had passed Ron. I was glad to see that you stuck to your faith to the end. I will see you in Heaven when it is my time to go.
Ron and I were good friends, we met at Terry Steele's Christian 12 step program (2001-2002) then became roommates on two occasions 2002 then later 2006.
Ron and I loved playing guitar together and having deep conversations about the Lord. We had gone to church together on many occasions and in those early days of our faith we were on fire for the Lord. Many wonderful experiences happened to us on a supernatural level along with meeting new people in the faith; was a big highlight. We never stuck to any particular church but we travelled to where we heard where the Spirit was going to be. Hindsight we needed those early spiritual experiences for what was to come later in our lives, trials, and much tribulation was to be the new norm.
I lost contact with Ron in 2007 after my life feel apart. I had to leave Ft St John and rebuild my life from scratch in Victoria BC. I ended up losing my faith in God and my fall was long and extremely difficult. I later found Ron on Facebook and we briefly talked and at that time he was in Vancouver. Ron didn't have much to say then but was trying to find his way as I. I never heard from Ron again until as mentioned above. I was very grieved to hear this news. I loved Ron and missed him but now miss him more. I am pleased though to know he did find his way and now is playing guitar in Heaven.
As for me, God saved me from a suicide attempt in 2010 and that was to be the beginning of a long road of rebuilding my faith in the Lord. In a nut shell I saw no reason to live and made sure that I was going to be successful in my death. I wanted everyone to know that I loved them and that I had no issues with anyone; that way nobody would have survivors guilt.
I gassed myself at 2 am in the morning in my vehicle for well over an hour and wrote the "note". It is funny because I was getting mad and wondering why it took so long. A good Samaritan came by and saw what I was doing, I rolled down the window shaking my fists and yelling at him to go away then quickly rolled it up because the smoke was bellowing out the vehicle. 5 minutes later the ambulance and police showed up. I was brought to the hospital and after tests, the Doctor comes up to me speaking and shaking his head saying "In all my life I have never seen a human being live off of carbon monoxide, YOU SHOULD BE DEAD!
The rest is history, I took it as a sign that God loved me and wanted me to live. I went to trade school in Victoria at Camosun College and got a welding ticket then carried on into another school in Vancouver at BCIT and pursued a Boilermaker ticket. I now have 2 red seals and a C level journeymen ticket as a welder. I now have a good pension and a great paying job that gives me the opportunity to work anywhere in the world and options to work only a few months out of the year. I have since grown and overcome many past issues and have grown in Christ.
Jesus is real and can help you as He has done so for Ron and I, never give up and learn to trust in the Lord because He loves YOU!
You are missed but not forgotten.
