Obituary of Meredith Park

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Meredith Park. Meredith, a long-time resident of Dawson Creek, BC passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Wednesday November 4,2020 at the age of 75 years.  

Meredith was a former resident of Selkirk, Manitoba who was born on June 8,1945 to parents George and Berniece Gowen. Meredith was the youngest of five children. She was bubbly, full of life with a contagious laugh and a servant’s heart. 

She enjoyed cooking, baking, and worked in several restaurants in the community. She began work at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites in September 2009 where she enjoyed the people and staff for 11 years. 

She loved the lord and reading her bible daily. She loved her old-time country music, draft horses, animals and sewing. Meredith was the director of the heavy horse division for Dawson Creek Exhibition and Kiskatinaw Fall fair for many years. 

Meredith is predeceased by her parents: George and Bernice Gowen, nephews: Kerry Grove and David Gowen. 

Meredith is survived by her loving husband, Vern Park of 57 years, Children: Melanie (Arlie) Esau and Robert (Clare) Park, Grandchildren: Jessica (Jaklich) Esau, Nicki Esau, Amy (Stephen) Brittell, Jennifer Park, Kailey Park, Great Grandchildren: Aida Jaklich, Griffin Jaklich, Selah Brittell, Micaiah Brittell and Shepherd Brittell, Siblings: Diane Still, Gail England (Bob Pare), Carol Laye (Orest Meleschuk), Edward (Jeanette) Gowen,  as well as many more nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and all those who loved her. 

A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2021 in Selkirk, Manitoba. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Meredith to the Canadian Cancer Society, 565 West 100th Ave, Vancouver BC, V5Z 4J4.
