Obituary of Mabel Krantz

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mabel Krantz, resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in Dawon Creek, BC at the age of 90 years.  A Celebration of Mabel's Life will be held at a later date.  For friends and family so wishing, donations in Mabel's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

Mabel Krantz was born November 24, 1930 in Valhalla, AB. She was the second child born to Jesse and Tone Tofteland. She married Gunnar Krantz November 24, 1955. Their children, Elvin born 1956, Thomas 1958, Lisa 1960, and Toni 1961. The family moved to the Tupper, BC area in 1962, and that is where Gunnar and Mabel resided until 2017, when they moved to Dawson Creek BC.

 

Mabel worked as a nurses aid at the hospital in Hythe, AB before she married and resumed her career in nursing at the hospital in Pouce Coupe BC after her youngest child Toni started school.

Mabel was a wonderful mother and wife. She was very caring and compassionate. She loved music and company. She was a great cook and always made sure that everyone had something to eat.

One of her favorite hobbies was knitting, and she devoted her time over the years in making 1000 baby toques for the Dawson Creek & District Hospital maternity ward.

Mabel’s family will miss her warmth and love which she gave so freely.

 

Mabel was predeceased by her brother John, her son Elvin, and her great grandson Damian. Sisters in law Agnes and Hazel, brothers in law Jim and Arnold.

She leaves to morn her husband of 65 years, Gunnar. Her children Thomas (Lori), Lisa and Toni. Her grandchildren, Korlee, Talyn (Leon), Kirsti (Ryan), Kelsey (Gerritt) and Kyler. Her great-grandchildren, Dane, Kensi, Brooks, Odessa, Andi, Oslo and Rori. Brothers Tom (Joyce), and Steve. Sister Olivia (Ken), and numerous family members and friends.
