Ronald (Ron) Wayne Leachman

Born: August 12, 1939, Regina, Saskatchewan

Died: September 3, 2021, Dawson Creek, BC

Ron was the only child of George Edward Garwell Leachman and Olive Maude (Butler) Leachman from Bladsworth, Saskatchewan.  Ron is survived by his wife of 36 years Jane (Whalley) Leachman, his children Cecil Leachman from London, Ontario, Brenda (Shawn) Dicks from Springdale, Nfld, Amanda (Shawn) Coutts from Farmington, BC, David Leachman from Dawson Creek, and Kyle Williams-Leachman from Dawson Creek; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.  He is predeceased by his parents and his daughter Linda Tess Leachman.

Ron was very active throughout his life in many community groups such as Citizens on Patrol, BC Foster Parents Assoc., the Canadian Legion, Kinsmen, and volunteer Fire Department in Gibsons, BC.  He loved to travel and lived most of his life in either Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and British Columbia.  Ron worked at a variety of jobs such as carpenter, paramedic, maintenance and building manager of hotels and apartment buildings to name a few.  Ron was very proud of his years of service in the Royal Canadian Navy.  He had lots of things that captured his interest like hunting, gold panning, and metal detecting.  He loved music and was especially good at the clarinet and saxophone. He won 6th place as a child in a Canada wide clarinet competition and was part of the ship's rock band on board Canada's only aircraft carrier, HMCS Bonaventure.

Ron passed away on September 3 after a difficult battle with COPD and cancer. A memorial service will be held at the Pouce Coupe Community Church on Saturday, October 2 at 2pm.
