Miro Fibich

Obituary of Miro Fibich

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Miro Edmund Fibich on October 2, 2021 at 85 years of age.  He passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family at the home of Randy & Cindy after a long battle with cancer.

Dad’s last 2 years were a struggle health wise. He was in and out of the Dawson Creek Hospital countless times. When he was able to stay at Helen’s he was loved and cared for and felt safe.

On July 21 he was admitted into the hospital for the last time. On Aug 6th the decision was made to move him into palliative care and two weeks later he was so happy when the family took him out of the hospital to Randy and Cindy’s for his final days. During the 6 weeks, Bonny, Wayne, Laura and numerous other family and friends shared this time keeping him comfortable. We shared countless stories, had many laughs, lots of tears and we all felt so grateful and honoured to be able to have this time with him.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was there for us, from bringing food or to sit with Dad so we could get some rest.

Born in Dawson Creek at St. Joseph’s Hospital on July 9, 1936, to Edmund & Bronislava Fibich, Dad was raised in Bessborough, British Columbia. At the age of 17 he moved to Buick Creek where he lived all his life.  He farmed, had the General Store, ran school buses, hauled water to rigs, did recoveries with his winch truck, and ran a propane truck out of Fort St. John. He was a Fire Warden with the BC Forestry Service for 61 years. In his retirement years he opened Fibich Fairways on the farm. Dad always had a love for old time music and dancing. When he, Willy and John created the North Country Music Jamboree he was in his glory.

Left with fond and loving memories is his loving companion of 25 years, Helen Bumstead & all her family, daughters Bonny (Del), Cindy (Randy) & son Wayne (Laura) as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren extended family and friends.

Expressions of sympathy can be made in Miro’s name to the Dawson Creek Hospital Foundation, 11100 - 13 Street, Dawson Creek, British Columbia V1G 3W8.

Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
