Obituary of Vernon Haglof
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Vernon Haglof, long time resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the age of 81 years.
Vernon Robert Haglof
1940 ~ 2021
Vernon was born on September 30, 1940, in Wynyard, Saskatchewan to Buford and Ethel Haglof and passed away in Dawson Creek, BC on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the age of 81 years.
Vernon moved with his family to the Peace Country in 1953 and settled in the Kilkerran District.
In 1960, Vernon met Victoria Ostrom and they married on November 18, 1961. Vern and Vicki moved from the Kilkerran farm, into Dawson Creek, BC in 1965. Their first son Kevin was born in December of 1966 and their son Dale was born in January of 1969.
Vern loved the country and enjoyed helping his dad on the farm. It was one of his favorite pastimes and where he got so much joy. Vern also enjoyed sports including baseball, curling, bowling and badminton. He loved music and dancing.
In 1959 Vern started working at MacDonald’s Consolidated Wholesale working his way up to manager in 1977 and retiring in 1998 after 40 years with the company.
Vern was a quiet unassuming man with a great sense of humor. He was kind, generous, respectful, and very respected by friends and colleagues alike. He was a wonderful husband and father and was very proud of his family.
Vern is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Vicki, his son Kevin (Nikki) and their children Emma, Madeline, Blake, and Clara; and Vern's youngest son Dale (Pam) and their children Josh and Cole, his sister in-law Glenda Therres (Ralph), extended family and friends.
Vern was predeceased by his parents Buford and Ethel Haglof and his brother Erwin Haglof.
The family, Vicki, Kevin and Dale Haglof, would like to express their sincere appreciation to all their friends and neighbors for their love and kind wishes during this time of sorrow. Thanks also to the nurses and doctors at the the Dawson Creek and District Hospital for their kindness and care though this difficult time.
At Vernon's request there will be no formal service at this time.
