Obituary of Everett Homister

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Everett Homister, longtime resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Sunday, October 10,2021, at the age of 47 years.

Everett Homister passed away suddenly on Oct. 10, 2021 at age 47 in Dawson Creek, BC. Born to Don and Rita Homister on January 25, 1974 in Kamloops. BC. Everett moved to Dawson Creek at the age of 12. Everett lived in Dawson Creek for many years, working at LP and having his two beautiful daughters - Zaylee and Quinlyn. He was active in hockey as a goalie and made many lasting friendships through hockey and his work at LP.

Everett moved away to Alberta and worked for various companies for a few years before meeting his wife Shannon and moving back to Dawson Creek with her and his two stepdaughters Jordan and Layla. Through the years Everett and Shannon accomplished many things including buying their home in Chilton Sub. Everett loved his home and spent many hours renovating and making it their own.

Everett acquired a job at Dahlen Contracting and became part of their work family for 10 years. He had recently started a new job with Triple J and loved the job as it gave him more time for his outdoor activities. Everett and Shannon had a love for the outdoors and if you needed to find them, they were out quadding or camping with friends or by themselves as this was his favorite activity.

Everett always made time to travel to see his daughters in Cranbrook and Kelowna. His proudest moments were the day his daughters were born and the day they both graduated. Everett loved to research anything and everything. If you had a question about anything from pipelines, to music, to politics, he had the answer.

Everett loved his hockey, and his favorite team was the Vancouver Canucks. You could catch him chatting about the night’s hockey game at any given moment. Everett had a love for life, and he made sure Shannon and himself were living it. He had just bought a new side by side so he and Shannon could take their nieces and nephews riding with them as he loved to terrorize them on rides. He would smile as he took them on wild rides, and they would scream and laugh.

Over the years Everett and Shannon also rescued dogs. Most of the time they were foster fails and they ended up keeping them. They ended up with four – his favorite dog was Sherman who was always by his side or in his truck headed to Canadian Tire.

On Oct. 10th, 2021, Everett’s life was suddenly taken at the age of 47 years old. He will be forever missed. He leaves behind his: Wife (Shannon), stepdaughters Jordan and Layla, daughters Zaylee and Quinlyn, father Don (Isabel) Homister, father in-law Roy Dostal, mother in-law Loretta (Ken) Dostal, mother in-law Cindy Dostal, sister in-law Shilo (Adam Lafond), brother in-laws Cory (April) Dostal and Kyle Dostal, Quinton and Kyla Murphy, nieces Hartlyn, Halle, Jaida, Brook, Blake, Avery, and Talaiya; nephews Koghen and Jax as well as many extended family and friends.

At Everett's request there will be no formal service at this time.  A  Celebration Of Life will be held at a later date.
