Obituary of Dan Lefferson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dan Lefferson, life-long resident of Gundy, Alberta, on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the age of 61 years.

Dan Lefferson

July 31, 1960 – January 4, 2022

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..” Romans 1:16

Dan Lefferson went home to His Lord and Saviour on the evening of January 4th 2022. He passed away at the age of 61, peacefully where he wanted to be - at home on his farm in Gundy, AB.

Dan was born in Hythe on July 31, 1960 to Harold and Alma Lefferson. The youngest of ten children, he grew up and spent his whole life in Gundy. Dan attended school in Pouce Coupe then Dawson Creek.

He left school early and worked on the rigs, various construction companies then settled into a long career with Nodes Construction for over thirty years as equipment operator and Foreman; you could drive the whole region from Wonowon to Chetwynd to Beaverlodge and he would comment “we built this road in Summer of ’91” or “that was a lease build for Advantage”.  Besides the joy of running equipment, he really appreciated those he worked alongside, some for many years, from small to major projects.

The last year he worked for Saddle Hills County overseeing numerous construction projects, putting his experience and skills to good use.

You might recognize “Cowboy Dan” as the tall, lanky guy in cowboy boots and hat. At times he wore his bright “No Jesus, No Peace” t-shirt and was always ready to sit and have a coffee and chat with someone, at times sharing a Book of Hope with them. One definite highlight of life was a mission trip to Montana and Romania where he put his preaching skills into practice. Daniel loved the Lord and was never “ashamed of the Gospel”.  Dan also had a deep love of nature and critters of all sizes which he captured with his camera.

Four years ago, Dan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. In June of this year, it had spread to his lungs and the past seven months was a tough journey. We are all so grateful for the extra time we had to be together.  A very special thank you goes out to the nurses at Beaverlodge Community Home Care and Dr. Larsen, Dawson Creek Hospital.

Dan is survived by his wife Susie and son Colton. His siblings Eva, Leona, Janet, Sharon, Jean, Sandra (Wayne), sister-in-law Lois and a wonderful clan of nephews, nieces, and friends.

Dan was predeceased by his parents Harold and Alma, brothers George, Harley and Chris.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
