Obituary of Jean Henney

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jean Henney, at the age of 88 years on January 17th, 2022. Jean was born on January 22nd, 1933, in Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Veta Frederickson and George Latimer. She was the second out of three sisters, in between Maryella and Debay.

Jean moved to Lynn Valley at a young age, where she attended school and met her future husband, Bruce Henney. Her summers were spent travelling to Lillooet and back to the Peace River country. Jean would later welcome two brothers Tim and Peter who reside in Lillooet.

Jean later attended art school in Vancouver and became an accomplished painter. She produced many beautiful oil and watercolour paintings over the years. Her and Bruce moved back to Dawson Creek, to raise their family. They had four children John, Jeanina, Guy and Scott. Jean was a devoted mother and grandmother “TuTu” to her grandchildren

She loved to travel, especially her and Bruce’s annual road trip to their school reunions. She also loved the Peace Country and always enjoyed social get togethers, going to the rodeos, and was a member of clubs such as the Red Hats Club as well as the Breakkie Club who would meet together every week at Inn On The Creek. When she wasn’t out socializing, Jean would take the time to make her daily phone calls to friends and family, which everyone looked forward to. Jean and her sister Debay were especially close, and not a day went by that they did not talk to one another.

Jean had a wonderful sense of humour and could entertain any crowd with her hilarious stories. Jean was always there to lend a helping hand and many people knew her for her generosity and kindness. She was a true animal lover. Many stray dogs and cats found their way to the farm over the years.

Jean is predeceased by her eldest son, John Henney; grandson Tanner Henney Beasley; Sister Maryella and her best friend Alice.

Jean is survived by her loving husband Bruce; daughter Jeanina; sons Guy and Scott; and grandchildren Mckenzie, Logan, Cyena, Candis, Denelle, and Rumi.

Jeans family will have a gathering at the family farm in the spring, where her ashes will be spread at the family plot, the way Jean would have wanted it.

Very Respectfully,
