Obituary of CJ Mattson

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of CJ Mattson, life long resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the age of 39 years.  For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of CJ to the South Peace SPCA, 11418 3rd Street, Dawson Creek, BC V1G 4L5, Canada.

Cohlen James “CJ” Mattson was born on March 5, 1982, and died February 10, 2022. He grew up in Rolla, BC, and lived in Farmington, surrounded by farm and family.

CJ was a force to be reckoned with; loud and unafraid to speak his mind, while loving his family with all he had to give. He was loved by his wife Alana, his child Miles, his parents Lynda and Brian, his sister Sadie (Dustyn), his niece Blaire, his grandparents Vic and Diana, his multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his many friends.

His tenacity and passion came through in his hobbies and work; making a difference was what he wanted to do, and in working for the City of Dawson Creek, he did that tenfold. He was skilled in operating a variety of machinery and had fun doing it, from plowing snow to mowing grass. He was always excited to get out and do something, like a dog going for a walk. Camping, swimming, farming with his family, having a fire, working on a vehicle, or just going for a drive was enough for him, as long as it kept him busy.

Family was number one for CJ. Even when he was apart from them, he always found a way to talk- he called his mother and FaceTimed his niece and sister every single day. A close second to family were his many cats and dogs, a troupe which he planned to add to with goats and cows in the future. He had many plans like that.

As per CJ’s wishes, he will be laid to rest during a small family graveside service at the Dawson Creek Municipal Cemetery.

Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
