Obituary of Pat Ness

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Patricia (Pat) Alexie Ness, a resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Thursday March 24, 2022, at the age of 83 years.

Pat was born on March 17, 1939, to Lily and Alex Niblock in Red Deer, Alberta. She was the third of four daughters. Pat attended school in Redcliff, Ralston, and Medicine Hat Alberta. After graduating high school she went on to train at Calgary General Hospital graduating in 1960 as a registered nurse.  Upon graduating from nursing Pat travelled to many countries, working as a nurse in London. It was always so fascinating listening to stories she would tell of her travels abroad. After returning to Canada, she started working at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital where she met John Ness, her future husband. On November 14, 1970, the two were married in Calgary Alberta.

Pat and John settled down on a grain farm 10 miles from Dawson Creek where they raised their three children Alexie, David, and Kari. Pat’s pride and joy was the addition of her 6 beautiful grandchildren.

Pat was predeceased by her husband John; parents Lily and Alex; and sisters Lorna and Bobby. She leaves to mourn her daughters Lexie and Kari (Spencer), son David (Nicole) and her grandchildren, Skylar, Jake, Olive, Piper, Jameson and Jones; her sister Verna (Don) in Ottawa, sister-in-law Genny as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.  Pat was well loved by everyone and touched many lives; we will miss her greatly.

A Celebration Of Life will be held on June 4, 2022, following a graveside service at 1:00pm at the Brookeside Cemetery.

For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Pat to the Dawson Creek and District Hospital, 11100 - 13 Street, Dawson Creek, British Columbia V1G 3W8 or the South Peace United Church, 11101 17 St, Dawson Creek, BC V1G 4Z3

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
