Obituary of Darryl Hamblett
It is with broken hearts we pass this message to you. Darryl Hamblett; Father, Brother, Son and Uncle, sadly passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the age of 57 years.
I think we can all agree that those who knew him would say he was a fierce warrior in the decades long battle he waged against MS. He faced each new day with a positivity, that one could not help but admire. We all take great comfort in knowing that he has found peace after his long fight.
Darryl grew up in Dawson Creek. As a teenager, when he wasn’t at the farm In Rolla, he was out playing hockey or dare I say… racing hot-rods with his buddies! Trouble managed to find him and his pals from time to time, but for the most part he was a pretty good boy.
After high school he settled into a job in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia at Quintette and embraced family life. He would agree that his greatest accomplishment in life was his daughter Tylar. From the moment she was born, he was thrilled to be a father. Tylar always has
been, and always will be, his greatest Love.
Darryl had a passion for many things aside from Ty, but for the most part it boiled down to fast cars and hockey! There was one particular team that he was passionate about, and that team was the Edmonton Oilers. Those of you who had the pleasure of knowing him know he was the Oilers' #1 fan! He shared this passion with his father… to their very core. We are sure he is up there right now lacing up his skates and going hard right along side them in the play-offs.
Darryl had spent the last 7 years living in Trail, B.C. to be close to his mom, sister and nieces. He had just arrived back home in Dawson Creek in March of this year with the help of all of you, and for that we are eternally grateful. We are so thankful that he was able to spend his last few months back in his hometown reconnecting with everyone, and we know he was too.
Darryl leaves to mourn his daughter Tylar, his son-in-law Michael, his sister Penny, and his three nieces Rowan, Dakota & Pyper. He also leaves behind, of course, a huge community of friends of whom he cherished dearly.
Darryl was predeceased by his parents, Bill & Donna Hamblett.
A Celebration of Life for Darryl will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 2-4pm at the Dawson Creek Seniors Hall. Everyone wishing to come is welcome. It will be a casual event for friends and family to come together, tell stories and reminisce
So much Love to all of you that shared this life journey with him.
For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Darryl to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 1103 - 4720 Kingsway, Burnaby, British Columbia V5H 4N2.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
