Obituary of Rose Aastveit
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Rose Mary “Métis Rose” Aastveit, a former resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the age of 76 years with her family by her side. Rose fought a hard and short battle with cancer.
Rose is survived by daughters Sharon Bourque (Mike Shorter) of Sherwood Park, AB, Colette (Ross) Nelson of Dawson Creek, B.C.; 3 granddaughters: Kendra, Kaelei and Brenna; sister Barbara, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ole, mother Katie and stepdad Louis, sisters Jessie, Velma, Lottie, special uncle Francis and granddaughter Carly.
Rose travelled the Métis trail and shared her love of jigging and singing along the way. She will most be remembered for her song, “All Shook Up” in Cree.
A Funeral Service for Rose will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 1:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Pastor Cory Lizotte will officiate. Rose will be laid to rest with her husband Ole in Brookside Cemetery, Dawson Creek, British Columbia following the service.
