Obituary of Neil Linklater
It is with profound sadness that we announce David (commonly known as Neil) Linklater, lifelong resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the age of 70 years.
Neil was born in Dawson Creek, British Columbia on March 8, 1952, and was the second child to Jim and Beryl Linklater.
Neil had a great sense of humour and loved to joke around; he was so funny. He was a friend to so many. Kids were attracted to him, he was a grandpa to everyone, but especially his own granddaughters. His biggest joy in life was being a grandfather, he was so proud of the girls and would do anything for them. Family was of utmost importance to Neil.
Neil was a very strong-willed person who loved to argue and share opinions and stories. He was kind and giving and helped all those around them if he could.
Neil also loved dirt bikes and 4 wheelers and to get out in nature, he loved summer and fall. One of his favorite places on earth was the cabins at Moberly Lake. It was a place of joy for him when he was a child and later he shared it with his children and grandchildren. Neil also loved a good hockey game and a cold beer.
Neil was a hard and dedicated worker. He worked as a professional refrigeration technician for his whole life. From small jobs to entire store installations, he always gave his best. He worked for and later co-owned Atchison Refrigeration, which has been in business since 1958. Neil, being a pillar in the business community for most of that time.
He also worked hard for his family being a dedicated parent to Jody and Arron, and later a dedicated grandparent to Karmen and Chloe. He loved his family so much and especially enjoyed time spent with them on holidays and special occasions.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Neil in the summer of 2023. We will hold a gathering at Moberly Lake, BC, and his cremains will be interred at the Hudson Hope Pioneer Graveyard in the family plot.
It is so hard to sum up our amazing dad and grandfather into so few words, but he is loved so much and he will be greatly missed. He left us too soon.
Neil is predeceased by his parents Jim and Beryl (nee Gething) Linklater.
Neil is survived by his children Jody Linklater (Dave) and Aaron Linklater; granddaughters Karmen and Chloe Linklater; as well as many extended family and friends, as he made connections wherever he went.
