Obituary of Brian Horne

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Horne, a resident of Fort Nelson, British Columbia, formerly of Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Brian passed away at his home in Grace Manor, Fort Nelson, on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the age of 67 years.

Brian Horne was born on May 10, 1955, at St Joseph Hospital in Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Olga Cebuliak and Eric George Horne.  The Horne family moved around and lived in many parts of Dawson Creek and Pouce Coupe, finally settling on a farm in the Bessborough region of Northern BC.

In 1965, Gloria, Brian, Wayne and Michael were taken to foster families.  Gloria and Michael went to live with the Schaerer’s in Dawson Creek and Brian and Wayne went to live with the Juell family in Doe River.

Brian left the Juell farm when he was 14 or 15 years old and worked in a Mackenzie lumber mill.  He went on to work in Rainbow Lake driving large trucks when his children Byron and Sheldon were small.  Later on he worked for Allen Prince with BC Parks to supply wood to Swan Lake, Tumbler Ridge, Moberly Lake, and possibly a few other parks we don’t know about.  A few years before retiring, he drove truck for the oil and gas industry in the Peace River region and Fox Creek. Brian worked many different jobs throughout his life – some might call him a many of many talents.

Brian was a generous person. If he had something somebody wanted or needed, he would happily give it to them.

In December 2021, Brian had three heart attacks, and in 2022 his lungs collapsed. He spent several months in the hospitals in Vancouver and Fort Nelson.

Brain is survived by his sons Byron, Sheldon, and Brandon; stepdaughters Ashley (James) Kosik, Kerry Meise; grandchildren Kaisha, Darius, Destiny, Billy-Joe, Gracie, Luna, Vincent; siblings Gloria (Tom) Rounds, Wayne (Karen) Horne, Michael (Beth) Horne, Don (Sharon) Horne, Darrell (Patsy) Horne; sister-in-law Leona Horne; and his good friend Kanta Reddy

Brain was predeceased by his father Eric George Horne; mother Olga Cebuliak; and brother Doug Horne.

The family would like to thank Kanta Reddy for helping Brian while he was in Fort Nelson and for taking care of Kaisha, Darius and Destiny.  They would also like to extend a special thank you to the paramedics, nurses and doctor caring for Brian in his final days.

With respect to Brian’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
