Obituary of Frances Friesen
It is with peace and love that the family of Frances Friesen, a longtime resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, announce her passing into the spiritual world on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the age of 91 years. Frances spent most of her childhood and early married life in Manitoba. She was the last remaining Yakubowski sibling.
Frances met and fell in love with David Friesen at her sister’s wedding. While living in Boggy Creek, Manitoba; Dawson Creek, British Columbia; and Silver Valley, Alberta, they raised nine children together. She delighted in her role as a wife and mother - she was extremely proud of her husband and children. Frances was a cheerleader for every member of her family. She worked hard and sacrificed to make sure everyone was fed, clothed, successful, and content. She could be counted on to give any visitor at least one offer of food with a side of advice.
Frances participated in activities with her greatest effort. Whether it was making perogies, baking, bartering for a better deal, or playing games, Frances was determined. If you ever played cards with Frances, you experienced her competitive spirit.
Frances leaves behind her children Gerry (Paula), Luella (Bob), Karen, Alvin (Shelley), Robert (Maureen), Blair (Debbra), Bert, and Andrew (Nadgia); twenty-five grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Frances was predeceased by her husband Dave and daughter Tammy.
A Memorial Service will be held for Frances on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 1:00pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Pastor Justin Schorran will officiate. There will be a luncheon to follow for friends and family.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium
