Obituary of Charles "Alex" Smith
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles "Alex" Smith, a resident of Pouce Coupe, British Columbia, on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the age of 72 years.
Charles Alexander Smith, otherwise known as Alex, was born on January 8, 1951, at Mount Forest, Ontario. He passed away unexpectedly at home in Pouce Coupe, British Columbia on April 23, 2023
.
Alex was predeceased by his mother dot and his father Walter and nephew Johnathon.
Alex moved to Pouce Coupe area with his family when he was very young.
Alex worked for Ackland Tools where he got into computer by ordering parts. After he finished working at Auckland’s, he started his own body shop business. He loved working on antique vehicles. When he was forced to quit the body shop business due to health reasons, he went driving logging trucks. He started his own company with 1 truck eventually growing the company to 5 logging trucks before cancer forced him to take it easy.
Alex’s hobbies were fixing computers and fishing. When he didn’t catch any fish, he pouted a bit. When he did catch fish and no one else did he enjoyed rubbing it in a little. Alex got into filleting fish with an electric knife. He loved showing off this skill that he had learned on the computer. Alex taught Norm how to fillet the fish and then bought him an electric knife for Christmas.
Alex loved his boats. He would look on the computer daily to see what he would buy next.
When Alex moved off the farm, he moved into Pouce Coupe with his sister Barb. He helped guide her family and great nephew Daniel as much as he could with his health problems.
Alex never got married, however, he had many lady friends in his life that will dearly miss him, as well as many older ladies who will miss him for his computer skills.
Alex is survived by his siblings Barb; nieces Chelsey, Pam, Jamie (Michael); great nephews Daniel, and Porter; great nieces Eva and Remi; as well as many extended family and friends.
Rest in peace Alex. We will all miss you.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 10:00am from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at 11:00am in Riverview Cemetery, Pouce Coupe, British Columbia.
