A Friend

I became the Principal of the Bonanza School in March, 1986. I looked forward to the challenge of teaching in this school. I was the eleventh principal in a span of ten years. In my memory, many parents were anything but supportive to the staff and administration of the school: misbehaving and disruptive students protected tooth and nail by their equally disruptive parents. I wanted to make a difference there, not just as a teacher but as a community member. Friends and supporters were few and far between there in those days. George and his family were counted as my friends and supporters in the activities we created, a Back from the Future event studying pioneer skills, a Christmas Community Chorus and competitive writing projects among others. George was instrumental in the school yard renovation project at the school and it was to him I left the unspent funds when I left that jurisdiction in 1991. He was a good and loyal man, community member and father and to me, a friend. May he walk contentedly with his grandfathers.

Nora and family,
I just heard today of George's passing. My heart goes out to you, Nora. Just hearing your family's name brings back so many good memories of those Bonanza School days when all your children were in the school program and George would come and cook hamburgers and you would always be there supporting every program that we had. So many good memories and it was so good to have you as a friend. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and know that you are loved.
So glad you have family close by for support. You will begin a new chapter of life now. May you cherish all you good memories and may it become easier each day to put one foot in front of the other, and enjoy those precious grand-children. Your friend, Leola

I would like to pay my respect to my Uncle George, I did not know you very well but my dad talked about you a lot. He may not have ever let you know, but I know he was proud to have a Big Brother like you growing up. I hope you are at peace and I hope the rest of the family is also at peace. Until we meet again you will always be in my heart, we are blood, we are Fitzpatrick's, we are proud strong people. Please know you will be missed even if you didn't know that in life. Love always Sheralee
